Alpine spice variety on the Schatzalp

Over 100 species are cultivated in the in-house garden. The collection of different mints alone includes 35 varieties.

The difference makes all the difference, explains Fabian Reppel, who is responsible for the plants: "A mint that tastes like orange is more suitable for dishes than, for example, one with a sharp camphor flavor, which is more suitable for a tea."

Herbs and drinks definitely go together, so Hotel Schatzalp offers a special guided tour: Botany in a Glass. On the tour, the ingredients of gin and absinthe are traced in the local garden, tasting included.

The Alpinum Schatzalp is a true botanical treasure high up in the Swiss Alps. With its impressive variety of alpine plant species, it is a paradise for flower lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.
